Fly Fishing and Nature Conservation – Together for vibrant river landscapes!

Fario e.V. Berlin/Brandenburg invites you to a special exhibition at the EWF 2025. For 30 years, the members have been working on a voluntary basis to preserve natural waters and the culture of fly fishing. The focus is on three pillars: the renaturation of river sections, the construction and operation of their own hatchery for the reintroduction of salmon and sea trout in Brandenburg and the promotion of fly fishing as a sustainable form of angling.

In close cooperation with the Landesanglerverband Brandenburg (LAVB) (Brandenburg State Angling Association), the Institut für Binnenfischerei Potsdam-Sacrow (IfB) (Institute of Inland Fisheries Potsdam-Sacrow) and nature conservation organizations such as NaturschutzFonds Brandenburg, NABU, DAFV and Naturfreunde Deutschlands, the association is committed to long-term improvements in the structure of water bodies and the promotion of natural fish stocks. One particular project is the volunteer-run hatchery, which was built in 2013 and has been successfully rearing young fish for the Stepenitz (Elbe catchment area) ever since. Together with the LAVB, Fario e.V. was able to successfully promote the Stepenitz as “River Landscape of the Year 2024/2025” in order to raise awareness of the need to protect this unique river landscape.

Visitors to the exhibition will gain an insight into practical nature conservation work, the construction and operation of their own hatchery and the link between fly fishing and species conservation. In addition to the exhibition stand, there will also be an illustrative presentation on the association's work.

Visit Fario e.V. and its exhibition, which shows: Fly fishing is more than a hobby – it is nature conservation in action!
