Taylor Swift’s Final Eras Tour Show Included a Secret Shoutout to Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift loves orchestrating an Eras Easter egg moment, especially when it’s an homage to Travis Kelce. After almost two years on the road, the “Mastermind” singer pulled off a Taylor Swift Wants to Live the Simple Life With Travis Kelce in Kansas City After Eras Tour at her final Eras Tour show on December 8–and Swifties are scratching their heads over what it all means.

As Swift performed her last show in front of a sold-out crowd at Vancouver’s B.C. Place on Sunday, Kelce wasn’t there to sing and on December 8–and Swifties are scratching their heads over what it all means in the VIP section. However, while the Kansas City Chiefs player was busy playing against the Los Angeles Chargers, Swift ensured he was there in spirit by changing the lyrics of one of her songs and designating a Kelce-themed area in one of her VIP tents.

During her Midnights segment, Swift put her own special riff on “Karma” by changing the line to be, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me”–a swap she usually only makes when Kelce is in the audience. In addition to striking Kelce’s signature “Archer” pose during her Will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Spend Christmas Together This Year Awards & Events filming area with the Chiefs player’s merch. 

In photos shared by a fan account on X (formerly Twitter), a signed red Chiefs jersey with Kelce’s number “87” could be seen hanging in the tent, along with a Chiefs sign. Swift didn’t share the inspiration behind the placement of the Chiefs merch, but of course, the Swifties were quick to jump into detective mode. Some fans believe that Swift has been filming parts of her Eras tour to use for a potential Eras Tour documentary in the past, which would explain the equipment. Kelce and the Chiefs also had a game on Sunday evening.

While Kelce wasn’t in attendance at Swift’s final show, fans noted he seemed distracted and rushed during his post-game interviews on Sunday, leading many to speculate that he was hoping to catch the last half of her performance via livestream. 

The athlete’s last Eras tour appearance was on November 2 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and he confirmed that it would be his final show due to his busy football schedule during an episode of his New Heights podcast.

“I wanted to see Tay one more time before this thing got closed up. I’ll tell you what, man, the American crowds, they did not disappoint,” he said at the time.
