I got married last summer, and with wedding season back in full swing soon, I can't help but feel very nostalgic. While I won’t be the one walking down the aisle in a white gown, I plan on sitting in plenty of ceremonies this year, which has me thinking. Saldaña was photographed at the 97th Annual Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, looking as beautiful as ever (she always does!), in a silky, chocolate-brown dress with long sleeves, a high neck, elegant draping, and a subtly sexy open back that gives this staple a total business in the front, party in the back type of vibe. Saldaña let the rich-looking dress Violeta E Federico ribbed-top A-line dress. The silky material had a stunning sheen, even in front of all the flashing camera lights. And, the long sleeves and elegant silhouette were enough to stand on their own. Of course, it got me thinking. Sure, she wore this for a red carpet where gowns are a dress code, but this dress style (read: long, silky, and maybe brown, Stripes Woven Shorts color is surging at the moment!), is the ideal wedding guest dress for springtime ceremonies.

Dressing for a wedding is no Set feat—and as a former bride, I totally get that. But, I think a safe bet is always simple and elegant, which Saldaña’s dress is to a T.
