Selena and Benny’s Taco Bell Engagement Picnic Took Place on a Sound Stage

Per photos shared on Gomez’s Instagram account, she said “I do” while surrounded by an idyllic picnic set-up that included a full Taco Bell feast, a bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket, and an adorable gingham picnic basket. While it appeared like the proposal took place in a lush park on a sunny winter day, Blanco just shared another angle of the engagement that revealed that the whole spread wasn’t as it seemed.

It turns out that Blanco embraced the help of some Hollywood magic to make the perfect proposal come together, as he disclosed in his own behind-the-scenes Instagram post of the moment. His video, which was taken from the side, revealed that they weren’t actually outside enjoying their Taco Bell picnic–rather, they were on an indoor sound stage with a set that made it appear like they were at a park. 

In the clip, Blanco focused his camera on Gomez, who was wearing a white fluffy faux fur jacket, $72 jeans, and her new multi-watt marquise cut diamond, as they clinked celebratory flutes of champagne. While the couple was seated on the ground on their picnic blanket, the sound stage could be seen in the background.  

Although the engagement wasn’t exactly as it appeared, it was actually fitting that Blanco decided to infuse some film-inspired special effects into the whole production as a seeming nod to Gomez’s actress background. It also reinforces a source’s recent comments that the whole thing “was very her,” from the 8-carat diamond–a reference to her “Good For You” lyrics–to a spread of her favorite Taco Bell foods.

"It's such a true partnership between them."
