The revelations, he said, were "difficult to swallow."

Prince Harry has made his first comments after spending two days at the Royal Courts of Justice in London observing the hearing that delved into the removal of his security before his departure from the U.K. with wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020. During the case, lawyers argued that the couple "felt forced to step back from the role of full-time official working members of The Royal Family as they considered they were not being protected by the institution."

His presence at the case was "a potent illustration of how much this appeal means to him and his family," his lawyer Shaheed Fatima KC said, per Sky News, adding, "One mustn't forget the human dimension to this case. There is a person sitting behind me whose safety, whose security, whose life is at stake."

Following the two-day hearing, in which Harry reportedly took fastidious notes on all that transpired, the prince spoke to People about the case's emotional impact. He was feeling “exhausted and overwhelmed,” he confessed on April 9, adding that his "worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case—and that’s really sad.”

The hearing centred around the removal of Harry and Meghan's security following the Sandringham Summit January 2020, when Harry and Meghan announced their trip to the Ukraine. Although the late Queen Elizabeth II expressed the need for “effective security" for the couple, RAVEC, the committee in charge of state-funded security assigned to the royals, soon told the couple their security would be removed following their decision. It was a move that Harry's legal team said left Harry “singled out for different, unjustified, and inferior treatment.”

According to People, Harry has committed to this legal battle under the "core belief" that the removal of security for him and his family was, in fact, "a deliberate tactic of control" and an attempt to encourage them to rethink their decision about stepping back. Coming to this realisation was, Harry said, “difficult to swallow.”

This case is reportedly Harry's final bid to regain security for him and his family. A ruling will be made at a later date.

Harry is not thought to have seen his father, King Charles III, on his short visit to the UK. He also allegedly missed a friend's U.K. wedding in the days before the trial. Harry left the U.K. for a Meghan Markle Channels Princess Diana For Rare Outing in NYC on April 10. Meanwhile, his wife made a Meg Walters is a contributing writer at.
