Meghan Markle Celebrates U.K. Mother’s Day with a “Family Tradition” Straight from the Kitchen

March 30 was the U.K.’s observation of Mother’s Day, ahead of the U.S. celebration of the holiday in May. To mark the occasion, Meghan took to Instagram with a photo of a citrus pie on Sunday—complete with an edible flower!—writing alongside it “Our family tradition. Mothering Sunday in the U.K.,” finishing the post with a lemon emoji.

A tiny glimpse of one of her kids can be seen in the homemade pie photo from Sunday, and Archie and Lilibet have appeared on Meghan’s newly relaunched Instagram with frequency, especially baking in the kitchen with mom. Lilibet even appears in the homepage photo for As ever, walking in white with her mom in front of a picturesque California landscape.

“When your children get to a certain age—when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again—it’s super joyful,” Meghan told People earlier this month. “As a woman, a mom, and a wife, to be able to find yourself again—in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older—is a wonderful feeling.”

While Meghan was home with the kids for Mothering Sunday, she and Harry were in Nigeria and away from Archie and Lilibet for Mother’s Day last May. While there, she admitted to missing her kids, but said, referring to her Nigerian heritage, that it felt “appropriate” to be there on the day.

“So it feels appropriate, but though, of course, we are missing our children, I’m missing my babies, but it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family,” Meghan said, per a TikTok from the Arochukwu Network. “So thank you so much for the kindness and for these beautiful names. I'm very grateful, and we can't wait to come back.”

Another source speaking to the outlet said of Harry and Meghan that “when the moment feels right, that will be the time to go for it. They’ll make fantastic parents.”

Motherhood obviously suits Meghan and is the priority in her life. On March 25, Meghan posted a photo of herself with Archie and Lilibet on Instagram, captioning the sweet family photo, “Every day is a love story.”
