Aya Brown X SNS Capsule Collab to Benefit Planned Parenthood
Diversity & Inclusion Aya Brown has teamed up with SNS to release a collaboration capsule featuring beautiful drawings by Brown - celebrating and bringing visibility to Black and Brown Queer Moms - specifically centered around LGBTQ+ family planning and Black maternal health. The capsule includes items that would help a pregnant or postpartum person make their lives a little easier - zip hoodies, a big tote bag along with a t-shirt all with Brown’s drawings of Black pregnant people. The entire ethos, execution and campaign featuring local NYC moms and their beautiful babies - is all Brown’s vision, with SNS helping as the conduit.
When asked to participate in this project with SNS in support of Planned Parenthood, I naturally thought of a conventional family image between man and woman. However, personally this is not what a pregnancy and a family would look execrate for me. Therefore, with this opportunity I wanted to help contirbuite to the ongoing representation of Black lesbian women and Black queer peoples famillies. Lets not continue to retain the same mainstream narratives, as we have a responsibility to account for and to expand beyond.
